Watch your step: Corroded drain grill might give way if you step on it

STOMPer Srinivasan came across this badly-rusted drain grill that could pose a potential hazard to pedestrians at a bus stop near Ang Mo Kio Town Garden West.

Said the STOMPer:

"I was waiting for a bus at a bus stop near Ang Mo Kio Town Garden West, close to the children's play area.

"I noticed that this sewage grill was broken, making it dangerous particularly for the elderly and for children."

It's quite unusual to see such antique drain-covers in SG nowadays, esp. in a "high-profile" district. Reminds me of the days when people were semi-paranoid about accidentally dropping bus-passes/ coins etc. in between the grills.

Stomper could alert PUB about the quantity & locations of corroded drain cover(s) in the affected area.

Whilst they don't look like they would totally give way at the moment, they nevertheless constitute a chemical hazard. I'm pretty sure such corroded grills leach toxic heavy metals into the drain every time it rains, & even when something steps on or rolls over them.
