What Bugs Me
So sad to see yet another bookstore chain make losses and close down

STOMPer William was unhappy to hear the news that Harris Bookstore at Great World City will be closing down. The bookstore chain made losses and the landlord's rent had also increased by 100%.

The bookstore announced it will shut its doors on Feb 19, but before that, they will be having a sale with 20% discounts from Feb 4 till its last day.

Said the STOMPer:

"Why does another bookstore have to go?

"First Borders, which carried all my favourite titles, then PageOne, which I also frequent for its design books.

"Now Harris has to close?

"I know it's not the last bookstore on earth, but the Harris at Great World City holds fond memories for me.

"It's near my home and also where I used to get my stationery and books from for the past six years.

"That aside, what is happening to book lovers? I really hope this will not be the death of the printed written word.

"Because there are still some of us who love to read while holding the real thing."

This generation of people is all paperless. From air tickets, e-books, music files, movies files. The works. Next will be the CD and DVD shops.
