What Bugs Me
One false step, and these workers could fall off wet ledge at Changi Airport

STOMPer Hoe spotted these foreign workers on a narrow ledge some 10m above the ground at Changi Airport, following a rainy spell.

He wrote:

"This group of foreign workers were seen working dangerously on a ledge at Changi Airport.

"The ledge was wet after rain and was at least 10m high.

"Aren't these workers covered under the Workplace Safety Act too?

"Who would answer if they were to fall?"

How can the govt allow such blatant flouting of safety regulations at our own airport. Best of all, the works were given to a foriegn main contractor who hired a foreign subcontractor. These foreign firms have no respect for our country and our regulations and they don't give two hoots about their workers that risk their lives for them everyday. The firms just come to Singapore to make a quick buck from a govt who view them as "experts" in their field. RUBBISH!!!

Will the government please seriously consider supporting us locals in this industry. We are here long term and will always consider the interest of the nation, our firm, our workers at all times!!!

Typically singaporean contractor company. Its cheaper to just replace the workers if they fall than to enforce safety. There r many more in bangladesh and china who needs a job. I have worked in this sort of jobs in sg before. Supervisors think u r gay or lazy if u ask about safety.

Terminate the respective contractor who sleep on their job, never supervise it's workers
