SMRT has stated that their bus Service Leader took steps to ensure the safety of this young child, who was spotted standing near the glass door of the bus he was driving.
In an earlier article, STOMPer Henry had been shocked to see this young child pressed up against the glass of an SMRT bus's door as it drove past him. He had expressed concerned for the child's safety.
A spokesperson for SMRT wrote:
"We have investigated the matter. Our Service Leader (SL) had heard a cry while driving the bus and noticed that a child was sitting at the staircase.
"As the SL was driving the bus, he could only stop the bus at the next bus stop and advised the child and her parent to return to the seat as it was unsafe.
"The child returned to her seat after coaxing from her family members who were with her, but after awhile walked down to the staircase again.
"Our SL advised the child again when the bus pulled to a bus stop, and even gave her a sweet to pacify her.
"Once again, the child was taken back to her seat by her family, and they alighted a few bus stops later."

@Nasty_Boy, everything really depends on the situation at hand whether the bus driver should continue driving or not.
@senseonsands, parents really do also have the responsibility. I personally believe that the safety of the passengers is also the responsibility of the passengers
The whole emphasis of the reply is that the bus driver had to reach the bus stop before he could do something. I am saying that as long as safety of the passengers is conceen, the bus captain can just stop and take corrective measure. Understand?
