So disrespectful: Merlion becomes 'wasabi-spewing monster' on Japanese gameshow
STOMPer JellyLegs saw a Japanese gameshow which featured the Singapore Merlion as a wasabi-spewing opponent. The STOMPer feels this was disrespectful to our national icon.
Said the STOMPer:
"Our Merlion is pretty famous, especially in Japan, where it is used in advertisements and even in gameshows.
"I was not surprised to hear it was used in a popular gameshow, Lincoln, recently.
"However, when I watched the episode, I was insulted to see how it was featured as a wasabi-lotion-spewing monster as a joke.
"Ouch. Kind of insensitive this time."

I m really curious? R u a Singaporean? Were u born & raised here? Since when was the merlion part of Singapore history? It was indeed a creation of the then STPB now known as STB. For the record the lion has a historical significant as that was how the name Singapura came about. Not the merlion!! I think u r the one who should go read up on Singapore history. Lol
