What Bugs Me
Mum concerned over weird-looking kid's snack

STOMPer sharon bought a snack for her five-year-old son from the supermarket. However, when they opened it, they found the strawberry-flavoured biscuit stick weird-looking.

Said sharon in her contribution:

"My son wanted to buy this snack from the supermarket so I did. It's a strawberry biscuit stick.

"When I opened it up I was kind of taken aback buy the look of the biscuit.

"I mean, didn't the manufacturer see what it looks like?

"I'm sorry to say this, but it's not a kid-appropriate kind of snack.

"My son is five years old, he also thought it looked weird, but he didn't say anything.

"But the older kids, what will they think? And what will their parents think?

"It's quite a common brand found here and is quite widely available.

"Why couldn't they adopt a rounded design, like the usual Pocky sticks?

"There's no need to design a little 'bump' at the end, plus it's strawberry flavoured."

It's because the syrup, or whatever it's called dripped down a lil bit. Don't think so far away.

expolice said that "It is a shame and disappointment that some of our citizens have been greatly influenced by western values and cultures". What expolice said betrays his ignorance in the history of Asian culture and values. Asian values and cultures used to be very sexually liberal - lots of women exposing breasts, man having many wives & mistresses, and many homosexual activities done prominently especially in China and Japan long before any Westerners came. It is only when Western Christian missionaries came and imposed their Western conservative Christian values and cultures upon many Asian countries that we Asian became conservative. Traditional Asian values are definitely very sexually open.

Openminded <- I suggest you walk down the street in a dick-shape hat and hold a dick-shape water bottle in your hand and customise your house door with dick-shape handle so wherever you go we know who to avoid. It is a shame and disappointment that some of our citizens have been greatly influenced by western values and cultures. Family showering together is a private matter and they have the rights and freedom to do what they want. If you are openminded, don't forget to tell us who your sisters and daughters are if you have any.

Give it one or two more generations and then the old-fashioned, closed-minded, regressive, sex-phobic and overly-sensitive people will die off as the open-minded generation will take over. Then people will find there is no big deal about the snacks even if (that is, even if) they resemble any perceived sexual organs. I know of two parents whose secondary school children (one boy & one girl) showers with together with their children now and then, and last year their whole family of four went to a few nudist beaches in Sydney. We need to question deeply into our sex-phobia: what is the problem with kids and teens seeing sexual organs?

I believe many who left their comments here are all out to condemn any stomper who post issues and incidents which are worth discussing constructively and I believe they are mostly teenagers and kids. The only approriate time for them to learn to discuss issues is when they have become parents themselves otherwise we can just ignore what they write as they are living in their make-believe world. Nevertheless I denounce the sale of such suggestive looking snack! To be forthright it does look like an adult toy and should be taken off the shelves with immediate effect.
