What Bugs Me
'$7 for kway chap? It's more than what I paid for 2 people last year'

STOMPer Teoh feels he was overcharged for the kway chap he bought at a hawker centre in Sims Drive, which cost him $7.

He said:

"I was appalled that this kway chap stall at Block 53 Sims Drive Place hawker centre had overcharged me!

"I have taken a picture of the plate of meat with one bowl of rice which cost $7!

"This is not my first time eating kway chap. Even for two people, it costs me less than $8 last year at the hawker centre.

"Is it because the nearby wet market is closed at night on Saturday that gives an opportunity for this seller to take advantage of the situation?

"Was the price of food increase this year even before it was announced on paper?

"It can be dangerous to consumers when sellers refuse to put a price list for their food. Doubt I will go back again.

"I would rather walk further to find food because of this bad experience."

Thats why it is always better to ask their prices first before committing on the purchase. If not, get burnt later. Cannot reject the food once they prepared for you.

Johor Bahru has a couple of really good kway chap stalls. Today, I had the best 3-layer meat, tongue, intestines, and skin that I've ever eaten for RM5 or S$2. Its at Restoran Ka Hoe near Pelangi shopping centre. Opens at 6:30am and crowds eat up everything by 12:30 ;D Amazing. Check out this link http://johorkaki.blogspot.com/2012/02/kway-teow-kia-kway-chap-restoran-ka-hoe.html

I agree with Evan_Weinstein....this is a coffeeshop, not a hawker centre. Indeed, this kway chap stall pricing is very expensive. But the food taste good.

coffeeshop $7 is too much.. worst still play cheat stall that mixes fishcake to replace e more ex. meat n pig intestines. kindof piss off with some hawkers nowadays, when i order fried white carrot cake with chili, 8 out of 10 now server me a plate of carrot cake with a scope of chili which is totally CRAP!! frying it with chili is very different from dipping it with chili. i wonder if hawkers ever try eating what they sell nowadays.
