So hard to read sign: Poor lighting at bus stop affects commuters

STOMPer Lela experienced difficulty reading the bus route guide at a bus stop along Bukit Timah Road due to poor lighting.

Said the STOMPer:

"Many of the bus route guides displayed at bus stops are not visible after sunset.

"Some streets and bus stops are so poorly lit that you cannot read the information.

"I still could not see the tiny prints even after I tried using the light from my mobile.

"I also noticed some young guys (foreigners) trying very hard to read , but they ended up asking me for help.

"Extra lighting is necessary for the effectiveness of space usage and information provided.

"These photos (in the gallery) show well lit movie ads along Bukit Timah Road, in comparison to the bus guide.

"Please provide better lit information signs for the public."

bus shelters are sometimes too cramp with advertisements and need space for passengers to move about. the directional signboards are away.
agreed they should be legible against poor lighting and shadows.
simple lightings will do or illuminated signs?

Aiyah, these signboards at the bus stations r only visible for commutators taking day rides n SBS heck care for night rides commutators. I suppose they r either negligence or unaware about it.

It's gd to bring it out to wake them up on why no lights r available at nights for bus route guides?? Can you expect old people to see them without lights at night??

ComfortDelGro, the parent company of SBS buses, generated a net profit of $228.5 million dollars in 2010. You'd think they can spare a little bit of that profit to install better lightings on their bus stops.

@harveykid2, what about people without handphones? Don't just complain? You are complaining about people complaining! What a hypocrite. If we all just accept things as they are, things will never improve. Perhaps you should move to China, Saudi Arabia or some other fascist society where nobody is allowed to complain about anything.
