Where are the cabs? Unable to book a taxi, even on a Sunday morning

STOMPer Shah was irked that he was unable to book a taxi on a Sunday morning, an off-peak period.

The STOMPer wrote:

"On a Sunday morning I had to wait for nearly one hour with no empty taxis in sight.

"I decided to call for one instead, but had to wait a long time before I could get through to the operator, only to be told no taxis are available.

"Why are we paying so much for the taxis if we can't even book one at a non-peak timing on a Sunday?"

Seriously, singaporeans gotta stop complaining for every little thing that they encounter. If you think being a taxi driver is so easy then go be one. Can't hail a taxi then get your ass on a freaking bus. Taxi drivers are human too, if you need your break from work, so do they.

Overcrowding is the main issue that MRT and Bus are pack and Cab seems shortage.

Now buying car also very expensive that's why many people still taking public transport because gov say their transportation is rather good can cope. ( now jialat liao and it's just starting, not sure what will happen next )

Taxi drivers are their own boss. They have flexible working hours. I don't see what's wrong with snoozing in on a Sunday morning. Want to get cab, site can. It's only a matter of how much you're willing to pay. That being said, it is a luxury. There is nothing public about this mode of transport.

after 0930 and just before 1800 they are not available. But you can see them driving around with busy sign if not parked at taxi stands waiting for booking/peak hour. It's not that the taxis are not really unavailable, if the driver don't accept the booking, what can be done?

Before when we call the operator to book a cab, the operator will ask for your location and destination. If the driver see a short trip, they won't accept so the operator now ill only ask for your location. So now drivers won't know where the commuters is going. So if commuters going only short journey, he can't say no.

Yah loh, taxi fares suka suka increase, then the cab drivers got enough money, every weekend can relax, suka suka driver, tah suka don't drive,go kopi-tiam drink coffee and relax first lah. That's why Pay And Pay none stop, yet service standards getting form bad to worst. All public transport like buses n trains also crowded like hell daily, what's more with the recent train break-down problem still unresolved? The big bosses keh keh keep quiet about the taxi fare increases, and divert attention on the Smrt/SBS train problem.Taxi association also say now lesser people take cab,but slowly will be back to normal.Isn't this forcing us to a corner where we can't even do anything and let 'heaven' help us in our country?
