Budget terminal, but not budget parking: Full-day fee now increased to $58

STOMPer Tam does not understand why the full-day parking fee at the Budget Terminal had to be increased from $20 to $58, when they are not many facilities there.

Said the STOMPer:

"The reason why people choose to travel at budget terminal is to travel at a cheaper cost.

"Full day parking fee has been increased from $20 capped to $58!

"Is this justifiable?

"There is absolutely nothing there!

"Just a miserable McDonald's, and there's not even a 7-Eleven or Cheers outlet.

"Since T1, T2 and T3 can keep a daily parking cap at $20 with all the facilities, $58 is too much for a place like budget terminal."

It appears that stomper has failed to realise the rationality of the revised parking rates which was improvised with an attempt to curb drivers who hogged parking lots during peak hour at BT. The delivery of such inconsiderate act has often drives up carparking woes and frustrations due to the limited parking lots in BT. This results in travellers who genuienly and urgently need to use BT parking lots being deprived of such lots due to local shoppers who dined and hogged parking lots at BT. Stomper has also failed to realise that BT has not been given priorities on 1st 3hours capped parking rates from Monday to Friday as compared to T1 to T3 with capped rates during weekday nights and weekends.

This should be clear enough to understand that you are not encouraged to park at BT just to shop unless you had legitimate purpose such as sending people off or receiving people and thus you had to bear the hourly rate at BT. Even if you genuinely needs to be at BT an entire full day for watsoever reasons, it isn't that hard to park at sheltered T2 and T3 and use the inter-terminal transfer to get to BT which doesn't take more than 10 minutes of bus interval time and yet able to save $38. Stomper has also failed to realise that budget terminal is smaller than the main terminals which has limited land areas thus resulting in BT amending changes in an effort to handle the rising demand of the use of it's facilities.

I bet it is pressure from Taxi Companies.
If parking is only $20 a day, then if you go for a day trip somewhere, it is probably cheaper to pay for the $20 parking than take taxi.

If your car needs to use the budget terminal, just park it at one of the 3 normal terminals and then take a shuttle bus to BT for your flight overseas.
