In a recent interview with Malaysian paper The Star, disgraced beauty queen Ris Low called Singaporeans 'kiasu', 'kiasi' people who are heartless and unwilling to help people in need.
Among the many criticisms she levelled at Singaporeans is the opinion that Singaporeans have no compassion for those with a past, citing her own case as the perfect example. She claims nearly every beauty queen has been mercilessly criticised by 'cowards hiding behind their computer screens' who 'bully' them and say they are 'ugly'.
She also complained that Singaporeans are unwilling to help when others are in need, and that 'when you need help, everyone just stares and does nothing."
She also said that 'the pace of life here is very fast, everyone is very stressed, very kiasu and very kiasi'. According to her, Singaporeans are always attracted to long queues, even if they do not know what they are queuing for.
STOMPer Chang commented:
"I chanced upon a report of Ris Low being interviewed in a Malaysia newspaper.
"She painted a negative picture of Singapore to Malaysian readers."

i wouldnt be surprised to learn Ris Lows overall views have been in some way misrepresented by a clever interviewer using leading questions, and carefully choosing which quotes to use.
