In-flight nightmare: Hong Kong Airlines jet has wing patched with duct tape

Imagine boarding a plane and looking out the window -- only to spot what appears to be a hole on the wing of the jet patched with duct tape. That's exactly what STOMPer Disingapore experienced on a recent flight on Hong Kong Airlines.

The STOMPer related the incident:

"On a recent flight to Singapore from Hong Kong I happened to notice the right wing flap of this plane from Hong Kong Airlines had been repaired with duct tape.

"Is this really safe? Can anyone care to share any experiences or knowledge on this?

"I hope Hong Kong Airlines can explain this."

Watch Mythbusters. They built a bridge made from 4 plies of duct tape.

MacGyver also swears by duct tape to build just about anything.

Kind of funny. When the engineers do a patch on plane, so that the flight is not held up, there's complaints. When they ground the plane and delay flights, there's also complaints.

Duct tape is nothing. Do inform us if they use masking tape.

Masking tape will make a better news headlines than the normal "duct tape"
