This open area at SIM is simply littered with cigarette butts, prompting the question -- are Singaporean university students so stressed out they need to smoke like chimneys?
A similar article was submitted a year ago about smokers at the university, proving that the situation has not improved since.
STOMPer Christopher wrote:
"It seems that student smokers in SIM still do not know how to dispose of their cigarette butts properly after smoking.
"The area outside the campus is still littered with cigarette butts despite having two rubbish bins in the vicinity.
"The bin's ashtrays are often found to be overflowing with cigarette butts. Some smokers even fail to stub out in the ashtray, causing it to catch fire occasionally.
"Many students were seen casually flicking their cigarette butts to the floor after smoking.
"Not only is the area an eyesore, visitors and non-smoking students and staff have to navigate past the smoking area through thick clouds of second-hand smoke to get to the campus as it is the only route available from the nearby bus stop.
"One foreign lecturer said, 'it seems that Singaporean students are very stressed out because I see so many of them smoking outside school.'"

Dun believe ask them to tey. Doesnt mean sim students are bad students. We are students cos we chose not to give up and still pursuing our studiea though we cant get our ass into local uni.
We smoke. Tts true. But Its better then jumping down the sch building or getting a knife axe our our head.
Lots of other places simply leave a bin in the middle of nowhere, where no one would bother going to to smoke.
Thats caused by people throwing tissues into the ashtray instad of the bin.
