Too much junk mail: Please lock mailboxes to stop clutter and littering

STOMPer kk has to put up with unwanted pamphlets being shoved into his mailbox daily. Some residents also resort to littering, which creates an unsightly mess. Please lock our mailboxes, he suggests.

Said kk in his contribution (Apr 25):

"We have to put up with this every day!

"All these pamphlet advertisements at Block 515 Woodlands Drive 14 are too rampant!

"This is an everyday 'load'!

"This is not the only headache; they are also stuffed in-between our gates!

"Is there anything that can be done to stop this?

"When residents' mailboxes are bombarded with all the junk mail, they throw the unwanted papers all onto the floor.

"Our poor cleaners have to clear the mess when residents cannot find any bins nearby. "According to the cleaner, when the bin used to be placed near the mailboxes/lift landing, some inconsiderate people threw leftover food and thrash into these bins which stank!

"I think it'll help if our mailboxes can be locked, to stop all the junk mail."

i tot mailboxes had this small little lever inside. if u turn it a certain way it prevents the flap from gettin gopened

I usually throw these junk mails onto the stack of read newspapers and sell to garung guni.Kill 2 birds with 1 stone.Can recycle & earn $.

Locking our mail boxes is not a solution. Some magazine subscriptions which are hand delivered cannot reach us. Moreover, paid junk mails which go through the post office will still reach our mail boxes through our postmen. The logical solution is to have discipline. Sieve them out and throw them into the rubbish bin. Is it too difficult??

Ya thesedays they enjoy placing them on ur doorway. I tried sending letter to TC. Their reply is they couldn do much to help. I told them why can't you write letter to those "agent" stating that it's an offense and will get "Fine" for such act? so angry.

Now worst, they will put it at your door step.... If today, the whole family go for holiday, the front door will be full of all these adv... Very dangerous... Robber will know that no one is at home.... Hope the authority will come out some rules to stop all this... Before, thing go worst...

TC should place recycling bin near the mailbox.let people throw in there.more environmentally friendly :)
