STOMPer Andy is sadden to find out that rabbits are prizes to be won at an upcoming rabbit adoption drive. He believes that the rabbits are companions and pets not to be won as prizes.
Said the STOMPer in his email:
"I chanced upon this rabbit adoption drive in Facebook and it seems to be organised by NTUC club. Please read my email to them as follows:
"I am writing in because I am looking for a companion for my boy bunny who lost his female companion last July. My boy bunny was adopted from SPCA and he is now 2 years plus. He is a lionhead mixed and brown in colour.
"I am not quite sure of your adoption process as it seems like a contest and there are judges. Personally, I don't think you can judge and approve the adoption just from email.
"There are many people who can write well but adopting a rabbit is a 10 years commitment. You can't send away a rabbit because the email is creative and original.
"Getting a pet is something that the owner need to see the pet itelf and look for some connection. The way this adoption drive is conducted just tells me that the organiser may not know much about getting a pet.
"I think that personal interview is a more relevant way. Otherwise, although your intentions are good but you may not be doing the rabbit any good. I have seen many abandoned rabbits and many rabbits, though not abandoned, are kept in very small enclosure with matted fur all over. I also really doubt that these rabbits gets to exercise regularly.
"Rabbits are not prizes to be won. They are pets and companions.
"Please stop all these irresponsible activities."
