Empty fire extinguisher boxes: What happens when there's a fire?

STOMPer Austin was perplexed as to why there were fire extinguisher boxes nailed to the wall of the food court at Block 807 Yishun Ring Road, when they did not contain any fire extinguishers. "There are gas cylinders just five metres away," said the STOMPer.

The STOMPer explained in his email to STOMP:

“Look at the fire extinguisher, there are only boxes left.

“But on the right side of the picture, there are gas cylinders for the shops in the area.

“It is only a distance of 5m.

“The fire extinguisher boxes which are not necessary should be removed.

"It is kind of pointless to leave them hanging up if they don't have any fire extinguishers in them, considering there are fire hazards nearby like the gas cylinders."
