Three STOMPers have a bone to pick with those who are thoughtlessly burning offerings in the carparks, instead of in the bins provided, and not clearing up afterwards.

STOMPer Perilous was frustrated to see the burnt offerings taking up an entire parking lot:

"I was parking my car when I saw this!

"I'm aware that it is the time of the year when people burn offerings but nobody has the right to burn offerings in a parking lot!

"The town council provides bins for such actions and I'm thankful to those who actually use the bins.

"Unfortunately, there are some who are just very inconsiderate and selfish to burn wherever they please.

"I have seen other STOMPers who faced similar 'burning issues' and I sympathise."

STOMPer Alan even saw this ring of fire at Boon Lay Place, opposite the community centre, last night (Sep 7):

"Because of the 7th month festival now, I saw a fiery display last night.

"There was a ring of fire as the paper burned all over the places even though bins are provided."

STOMPer Milly thinks that not cleaning up after burning the offerings should constitute the offence of littering:

"This was seen around Chai Chee.

"Inconsiderate residents left their empty boxes and scattered plastic bags behind.

"Isn't this considered littering?

"We have been reminded time and time again to return our trays after eating.

"Can we not apply that practice to this situation?

"Now who is going to clean up after this?"

typo** -> Everytime

Anyway, some residents believe they pay tax, so leave it for the Bangala cleaners to do the rest of the job... Quite a mess out there actually...

I have allergy rhinitis and my partner has sinusitis. Everything 7th month, we fall sick... sad... Anyway, can't blame the religion. However, some gov body should regulate the location for burning. I wonder how much carbon monoxide and soot is produced compared to those buildings forced to be come green. Burning should be ok but it should be done properly in a stipulated location. Not just the smoke and soot affects the health, the unburned bits of incense paper and hell money all over the place and even landed on cars are just not right... There are burning bins around, they should be used.

Questioning people's belief?what will this people feel if others start to question their belief back?be mindful. You like to say about others,then you must standby to tahan people shoot you back one day.I hope those PEOPLE understand what I'm driving at.guys,why can't we understand and respect each other more? Now, I know why S'pore Taoist Federation need temples to be properly registered. As years go by, some people eventually can't identify themselves correctly. If some people know basic moral, they won't litter & burn inconsiderately especially on others expense. Eg. burning trolley. Nobody here is anti, all go for clean & green environment & also educating some people to be more considerate.

Remember, we don't disturb the ghost, feed them & ask for favour in return (4D, toto). They will look for the owner who feed them all these years. Qi Gui Giang!

@eldiamante - well commented.

For those who don't know why people choose certain spots like that to burn, according to one of the rule, you have to burn and pray at a cross-junction area in order to be effective. And whatever you use to pray, you don't take them away.

If you guys find it inconsiderate, you should just suggest to the government to clean up the area more often during the 7th month each year. Please respect the religion.
