STOMPer Bert was surprised and concerned when he received not one, but two credit cards via post. What if the duplicate card had been lost in the mail and someone started using it, the STOMPer wonders.
The STOMPer writes in an email (Aug 31):
"I had been subscribing to the POSB Everyday card since 2005.
"Last week, I received a new card via post to replace my old card.
"The appended letter said that the exercise was for the purpose of 'enhancing card usage security'.
"Two days back, I received a similar package that contained yet another new card with the exact same 16-digit card number, except for the validity date.
"Will be visiting the bank tomorrow, hope that they can provide some clarifications to the following questions that I have in mind:
"(i) Why did the bank send me the same card twice?
"(ii) What would happen if the second card had gotten lost in the mail and someone had started using it? How am I supposed to know that there is a duplicate card floating around?
"(iii) If the above incident happens, what measures are there in place to ensure that only one card is valid?
"As my own 'enhancing card usage security' measure, I will be rejecting both cards and requesting for a new card with a new 16-digit card number."
