In an effort to provide commuters with cleaner toilets, SMRT has recently increased the frequency of toilet cleaning from three to six times a day.
This is in response to two articles previously posted on STOMP. In the first one, STOMPer computer forensic had complained about the filthy toilets at Boon Lay MRT station.
STOMPer vanillaijs however, felt that the increased cleaning periods were an inconvenience.
A spokesperson for SMRT said:
"We thank STOMPers computer forensic and vanillaijs for their feedback about toilets at our MRT stations.
"We would like to share that we have recently stepped up the frequency of toilet cleaning at our MRT stations, from three to six times a day, as they are regularly used by commuters.
"We have also kept our toilet cleaning schedules to off-peak hours to minimise inconvenience to passengers. Throughout the day, the toilets are also maintained by our toilet cleaners.
"We had contacted STOMPer vanillaijs to obtain more details of her experience. As she could not provide exact details, we investigated the toilets at Yishun, Woodlands and Jurong East MRT stations, which she had singled out, and found them to be in satisfactory condition.
"We seek the public’s cooperation to use the toilets with care and consideration, and to throw used tissue paper in the bins provided."
