Mindef sends soldiers to 'chope' more than 30 parking lots at HDB Hub

STOMPer Michael Chin says these men in uniform prevented people from parking in more than 30 lots at Toa Payoh HDB Hub's carpark. He questions if they really have to right to reserve lots like that.

In an email today (June 8) the STOMPer explained the situation:

"MINDEF sent their staff to block more than 30 carpark lots at Toa Payoh HDB Hub Basement 1.

"Apparently this was for their event at HUB Exhibition Hall on June 8. Those who drove in to the carpark in Basement 1 saw lots of empty lots but were asked to drive off by MINDEF staff.

"I believe these carpark lots are first-come-first-served and all drivers pay their parking fees by the minute."

aren't the carpark management has barricades which indicates 'RESERVED' etc??? if yes, why isn't it used? y using NSFs? Unless HDB Hub belongs to MINDEF.

Whatever they had done was always for a good reason. These days they emphasize alot on public friendliness and ensuring little disturbance/inconvenience. These doesn't happen everyday and we should not stomp on such matters.

Stomp should be for fun, candid, serious matters. Not to deliberately find fault with our defence force etc.

If anyone isn't pleased, they should approach and ask politely. I am sure they wouldn't reserve lots for fun.

i happened to drive pass n asked one of the personnel why was the lots reserved. they say the lots were rightfully reserved in the 1st place but only tt they hav no proper indications. they are reserved for the Members of Parliament and the one bar officers there are to usher n escort the MPs. if only this settles all of your queries.

by the way, one of the officers kindly told me that as it was MINDEF PRIDE DAY, n to my knowledge, MINISTER FOR DEFENCE WAS present and he was the GOH, for your information.

Go challenge the authorities, call in reporters, call in carpark mgmt etc. Writing here does not give you solution. It only show that you are a coward who doesn't dare bring up to higher level. I am sure you belong to one of those lower class who sweeps east coast park and does nothing but only know how to grumble like an oldman. I guess you must have been seriously tekan when you served NS, so now you finding fault with everything. Everyone here pities you.

This is just to show how SAF can do what ever they like and abuse the citizen soldier. Also, what is the carpark management company - METRO PARKING (S) Pte Ltd doing????? Ain't they know about the event??? They had staff station there right????? Is our HDB keep on paying money to these type of half pass six company which can't do their job at all?????

Michael, please use your common sense. Obviously, MINDEF has been given permission to do so. How will you react if the people who 'chope' the parking lots are HDB security guards? You'll probably not post here. For this case, the NSFs are simply acting as the 'security guards'... Do think before you post...
