Instead of adding more soup, chef dilutes it with water

STOMPer Jessie had a bad experience at a popular food outlet when the chef added tap water, instead of more soup, to her dish as requested. The STOMPer is angered as she feels the act posed danger to her health.

Jessie said:

"I ordered a packet of fish soup from a Hong Kong Street outlet recently, and requested for more soup. When the dish was done and passed to me, I noticed the container was only half-filled with soup.

"I reminded the counter staff person that I had requested for more soup. She apologised, saying that they had overlooked the matter and would get the chef to add more soup to the dish.

"To my horror, I saw the chef pouring TAP WATER into the container! This is really outrageous! What if I get diarrhoea or food poisoning?

"I am buying soup because I am sick. This could worsen my existing condition!"

I think the most disturbing thing here is not adding water into soup but the integrity of it all. The chef should not have done that, it is a cheap shot. And, this Stomper is not a drama queen! This time he added water, next time? I wish you have printed the name of the stall where at least the next time others go there they will be watchful or just boycott.

Jessie. Singapore's regulations on tap water is that it has to be under 45 microbes per litre. That way, the probability of finding a significant amount of E. coli or Salmonella in your water is way near zero.

Singapore's tap water is very clean. I drink it everyday :)
