SMRT says the Circle Line train which experienced a fault with some of its doors on May 13 was allowed to continue its journey to avoid delays.
This reply came in response to feedback from STOMPer Kenneth, who said that some of the doors would not open when the train reached the various stations, causing confusion among commuters.
An SMRT spokesperson said:
"On 13 May at around 10am, a Circle Line train travelling towards Dhoby Ghaut MRT Station experienced a train fault at Serangoon MRT Station, causing some of its doors to remain closed.
"To prevent further delays as a result of withdrawing the train service, SMRT decided to continue the journey as some of the doors were still functioning.
"When the train arrived at subsequent stations, staff were positioned to guide passengers to doors that could open.
"The train was subsequently sent to the depot for checks after ending its journey at Dhoby Ghaut MRT Station and has since been repaired.
"SMRT apologises for the inconvenience caused."
