Meet Bolo Santosi, a fictional character with probably the worst Singlish accent ever. She makes an appearance in the video game Just Cause 2, much to STOMPer Bryands' dismay.

In an email today (Apr 5) the disgusted STOMPer wrote:

"I've finished the game Just Cause 2.

"I was insulted from the minute I met her character. The game is a mishmash of Thai, Chinese,. Malaysian, Indian and of course Singlish accents.

"She does sound more Singlish than Malaysian manglish (e.g. 'we say lah', 'most of them say ler').

"Anyway, every time she comes out, I have to curse. One mission is time-based and you have to bring back chemicals in a helicopter before it cools down. Every bloody minute she is barking orders at you, complaining about your progress in that Singlish voice.

"I don't know what Caucasians see in 'ah lians'. Because that is exactly what she sounds like.

"Worst of all, if people find out this is Singlish, it is going to give us all a bad name.

"Now there's even a Facebook group with Singaporeans claiming her as their own.

"Why would you want to perpetuate this? Are we that insecure? That starved for identity? Attention?"
