A STOMPer saw a brutal fight between two lion dance troupes near Macpherson Community Club last Friday (Feb 19). What she found most shocking was that weapons, including knives, were used.
Said the STOMPer:
"Last Friday, while waiting for cab along Circuit Road opposite Macpherson Community Club, we saw a big and brutal fight between two lion dance groups.
"On their T-shirts were printed: Bukit Batok CC and Teng Yang.
"What was shocking was that weapons were used! They used metal rods, metal chains and even knives!
"I wonder what the lion dance troupes were doing with the weapons in the first place.
"It was obvious that there were injuries on both side. I saw a few of the people involved were bleeding.
The CC is supposed to be a family place, so what were they thinking bringing weapons and fighting there?
Moreover, their troupe names and individual names were printed on their banners and T-shirts. Didn't they care that they could be identified?
"Some other questions came to mind:
"Where were the police when there was such a big fight in a housing estate?
"Who are in charge of these lion dance groups?
"Who should be responsible if innocent members of the public were hurt accidentally due to these fights?"
"I wanted to take a video with my camera, but I did not dare to, after a passer-by by told me that I better not do it."
