Aljunied Town Council says that nine stray cats, which were causing a nuisance to residents of Block 712 Bedok Reservoir Road, have been caught and handed over to the AVA.
This was in response to STOMPer Chua's earlier posting, where he expressed frustration over the filth left behind by stray cats at the HDB block's corridor.
In an email to STOMP(19 Feb), a spokesperson from Aljunied Town Council said:
"We thank the STOMPer for the feedback on the nuisance caused by stray cats along the corridor of Blk 712 Bedok Reservoir Road.
"The Town Council and HDB carried out a joint sweep on 19 Feb and nine cats were caught and handed to AVA.
"We seek our residents' co-operation not to feed stray animals so that we can maintain a high level of cleanliness in our estates.
"Residents with any feedback may contact us at 6744-1033 at any time during normal office hours."

Some owners allow their cats to roam downstairs sometimes. So how do you know they are house / stray cats? What if there's no collars? What if the 'stray cats' that you caught belongs to a family that happened to let the cat go roaming? Families grow attached to their cats after a while & so, if the cats go missing, they will feel very affected. Have you thought of this before you praise yourself for being so efficient. Cats are living things too, hello?! Here's to ATC, AVA & Stomper Chua - karma exists.
But Stomper Chua, do you know, with your compliant, the cats that are caught are put to death in not so humane way. These cats, though you may not like them, are LIVES, they feel, they fear, they know gratefullness, and they just want to live like you and me. Your complain equates to bringing death to liveforms.
AND, being a stray is never their choice. Live and let live Chua. Complain about HDB residents cleanliness to be more objective - I bet you see rubbish thrown off the windows and discarded at lift lobbies alot more than cats pee and poo - which btw is not evident in this picture.
agreed.why tf does the town council cull so many stray cats when they dont vene install security cams in most lifts to catch ppl smoking or peeing.this is unfai, cats clean up after they poo.if there is poop on yr doorstep its either an enemy or a stray dog.
Please explain on the case the nine cats rounded up in respond to Stomper Chua at Block 712 Bedok Reservoir Road:
1) If any,and how many, of the 9 caught are sterilised cats.
2) Before sending them to AVA for death execution, did your officers, if any, attempts were made at contacting cat welfare society or adoption shelters were made for these 9 lives, in the form on feline.
3) Please confirm it is your SOP to proceed directly to cull and kill cats, and any animals found, upon receiving complaints from residents.
