What Bugs Me
Rowdy fans of Korean boyband mar event but organisers 'did nothing'

Things became chaotic when more than 1,000 fans turned up at the SHINee meet-the-fans session yesterday (Jan 31) at Lot One. There were people pushing, and prying open doors, and the management still didn’t do anything to improve the situation, says STOMPer EQ.

In an email to STOMP today (Feb 1), the STOMPer says:

“The first person queued at 5pm despite internet announcements stating that no overnight queue was allowed.

“The first couple of fans took things in their own hands and wrote unofficial numbers on everyone's hands.

“A girl in black shirt in the unofficial ‘management’ said that they would try their best to get these people (the people that came after the first thousand) to go back home.

“A lot of fans were upset and joined the crowd who stayed outside the entrance to wait for it to open and rush in.

“The fans pried open the door, pushed and ran in madly. It was so chaotic.

“Capital Land Mall staff even went to the extreme and asked the fans to leave the mall.

“People started rushing up to the movie box office area to catch a glimpse but couldn’t see anything from the box office as the wallpaper of the door is opaque.

“Despite the security repeated saying of that the management is deciding whether to let the fans in or not, no action was carried out.

“What happened to the announcements made on the internet?”

CON'D FROM POST 1.

and i seriously cannot stand the fact that they hold their fan meeting in such a kuku place. They should at least hold it at some town area! Singapore are just too lousy to underestimate popular groups and think that those not-really-popular-groups ARE REALLY popular. They can't even pronounce SHINee's band name! Omg..this is how terrible singapore's entertainment industry and their organisers are. Singapore is really disgraceful when it comes to entertainment!!!!!!
hope that the upcoming fanmeetings like this would not be as bad as this. SINGAPORE ENTERTAINMENT!! WAKE UP!!! DO SOME P-R-O-P-E-R AND U-S-E-F-U-L RESEARCH BEFORE YOU CLAIM THAT YOU-KNOW-IT-ALL!!!

I TOTALLY agree with kukupeople. A lot of you out there underestimate this particular korean boy group. Pls do some research regarding this group before you post on anything. Do you know they are from the biggest and most popular entertainment company in korea? this company acts as an economic pillar for the country ok. for your info, they're from SM and they are the juniors of the famous asia boy group, DONG BANG SHIN KI(whom a lot of little groups are imitating but too bad, failed)

I agree with SithLord...it is the ppor organisation that made this event such a unhappy one for the fangirls as well as the shoppers who happened to be there that day... there were also a lot of fanmeetings in the past, but never i came across so many dissatisfaction about the event...all were properly organised with minimum conflicts...so in my opinion, the organisers should just reflect on how to do this better if given a second chance, so that korean stars will not be afraid to come spore again. and to those who thinks those 5000 fangirls are siao cha bor..hope you put yourself in their shoes..if the stars you like come to spore and you stand a chance to be see them upclose, i am sure you will do the same as them too.. if you do not, you probably grw up to be an adult too soon.. you did not experience the younger days where you will do such things...poor thing...

I have no problem with dedication or fandom in general, in fact I admire it. However dedication and behaviour are two different things, it is important that we understand that. From what I can see the problem is not caused by the deciation of some (I repeat some) of these girls but rather their poor behaviour, by abusing workers, damaging property and committing dangerous and rash acts. Thats just wrong, no justification applies, and to say they were just dedicated is to make the well behaving fans look just as bad

The thing about stomp is the amount of negative feedbacks and comments. This event gone haywired not because of the fans, seriously there are many other fan sessions with even more crowd but didn't get messed up. It is due to poor organisation and miscommunications among the event organisers, the media, the fans, the securities etc.

Stop being the self-righteous judgmental keyboard warrior and brand people as you like. They are young, they have their own life and they have idols they admire.

You guys have your own obsessions, these girls have theirs. Leave them alone and quit calling them losers. Doesn't show your maturity or intelligence.
