What Bugs Me
Scattered bricks and tiles that hold down roof can cause serious accident

This unstable roof in Geylang is held in place only by bricks and scattered roof tiles, says STOMPer Timid Heart, who fears for the safety of passers-by especially when there are strong winds.

Something needs to be done before someone gets hurt, he says.

In an email, STOMPer Timid Heart says:

"These two pictures of a single-storey terraced house were taken at Lor 16 Geylang.

"The roof is old and covered with a piece of black tarpaulin and held in place by pieces of bricks and orange roof tiles.

"If a strong gale were to blow across the roof, the bricks and tiles would fly all over the place.

"As Geylang is a crowded place, these flying bricks and tiles could be a hazard to passers-by.

"I hope the authorities will check on this building to ensure that a safe roof is in place before a tragedy is unleashed."
