What Bugs Me
Who really pays for celebs when we travel with them?

STOMPer Non-freeloader wonders who really pays for the celebrities' expenses in tour packages that use these personalities as selling points. He feels that the celebrities and tour agencies are gaining at the expense of bona fide tourists.

In the STOMPer's email:

"I received an email from a local tour agency asking me to sign up for tours in the coming months.

"It was an advertisement titled TRIPPING WITH THE STARS and the  purpose is to lure tourists to go on tours to Malaysia, Indonesia and Japan with some DJs and stars.

"I understand these stars will go for free trips; so who is paying for their trips?

"I was told that the expenses of the stars will be shared by those bona fide travellers as they have to pay to see the celebrities in person.

"Are tour agencies so hard up that they have to enlist the help of artistes so as to lure unwilling travellers who would otherwise not have gone on such a tour?

"The tour agency and the celebrities are the winners but the losers are the bona fide tourists."

I think the people who signed up for the packages know that they are paying for the celebrities as well. I mean the packages are so much more expensive than those without them! Knowing that Singaporeans just love to compare prices, I doubt they don't know about it.

Those who sign up knows what they are getting into. Those aunties and uncles want to get close to these so call 'celebrities' and maybe get a few minutes of fame appearing on TV. They happy let they pay lor

Celebrities r paid by travel agency 2attract customer for them, just bcos celebrites know their popularity can fool many stupid/idiot consumers,so they sell their fame/face 2whichever biz who needed them by undisclosed sum of money agree btw themself..result ticket price r higher than normal..in effect consumers r indirectly paying for this celebrities trips..

Actor and actress should no need to pay, they are consider working only like oversea filming. The tour agents enagage them so pay to Mediacorp I think... likewise those PPL have to pay more than normal to cover up this loss. There are pro and con to follow, the choice is your.

very simple. nothing is for free. the celebs are paid by the company to endorse, the customers pay for the celeb. your trip with the celeb always cost more than a regular trip isnt it?

Another Bo Liao Stomp!
Why do STOMPer Non-freeloader worry about Who really pays for celebs when we travel with them?
IF IT'S TOO EXPENSIVE FOR YOU TO GO ON THE TRIP, THEN DON'T GO! IF YOU ARE TOO CHEAP TO GO WITH THE CELEB, THEN GO BACK PACK ON YOUR OWN!!!
