What Bugs Me
Exposed wires and graffiti -- Is this bus road-worthy?

The exposed wires and graffiti in this SMRT bus makes one wonder whether it is road-worthy, says STOMPer safety officer.

This STOMPer feels that bus companies should ensure that all vehicles meet safety and cleanliness standards.

The STOMPer says:

"This picture was taken on board bus service 852 which runs from Yishun Interchange to Bukit Batok Interchange.

"I noticed some graffiti on some of the seats and the emergency door was coated with a layer of black oil.

"There were some coloured wires dangling from the door and these are a sure allurement for young kids.

"If these wires are live then the kids will get a nasty shock..

"SMRT must ensure that its buses are road-worthy. The old rickety buses should be taken off the road.

"SMRT should also be mindful of the safety of commuters, especially kids, who are always attracted to coloured wires."
