Dangerous tree stumps in Teban Gardens can lead to fatal accident

These bare tree stumps left by the road at Teban Gardens Crescent are a danger to pedestrians as they might fall during thunderstorms, says STOMPer Weak Heart.

The sender hopes that something can be done to remove these dangerous stumps so that an accident can be prevented.

In an email, STOMPer Weak Heart says:

"These pictures were taken at Teban Gardens Crescent(TGC).

"There are many vertical tree stumps left near the road.

"Some of the trees are dead and are devoid of leaves.

"I fear that during a thunderstorm, these stumps might fall and hurt passers-by.

"I hope the authorities can chop down these stumps so that they don't pose a hazard to pedestrians.

"I always say my prayers each time I have to walk past TGC."

@ STOMPer Weak Heart: "bare tree stumps left by the road at Teban Gardens Crescent"

For the sake of accuracy, these stumps were hardly located "by the road". Instead, they were found within the abandoned Jurong Line railway corridor, which used to be a DIY kampung-style farmland.

The stumps were those of wild-sown or resident-cultivated trees. They were reduced to this state, after SLA put up 'No Trespassing' signs & legal notices, & in 2007, proceeded to dump tons of clay earth onto this former verdant farmland. The bigger trees were partially torn down, before gradually suffocating to death by the deep burial of their roots – notice how no root flares are visible in the photos. The smaller trees at the site were totally torn down by bulldozers.

Today, this railway stretch is filled with wild grassy/scrub vegetation which SLA mows down regularly. Most of the dead stumps have already decomposed into nothing.

from the look of the tree, the death might be due to overpruning done by the owner.since the tree had died ,time to remove and replant

How do TC maintain trees that they die.
TC should chop the dead ones and plant new ones in their place.

Who ask you to walk there huh? if you walk below HDB the water of one auntie undergarment drip onto you, you gonna blame her isit? if you slip and fall, you gonna to blame the LTA/Town Council isit? in the event of a thunderstorm, not only the bare tree slumps will fall, a lot of things also will fall. Hide yourself in your cupboard then so that everything will be safe. But wait a minute, your hanger may fall.
