According to Aljunied Town Council, the contractor responsible for the panels stacked up at Block 262 Bedok Reservoir has been told to keep them away from the roof’s edge.
This was after a STOMPer’s contribution about the dangers of the panels placed too close to the edge of the roof of the building.
In an email sent to STOMP, a spokesman for Aljunied Town Council wrote:
“Our investigation shows that on the date of feedback, the roofing works at Blk 626 have not commenced.
“Preparatory works were underway and the Site Supervisor had asked his workers to remove the existing roofing panels and stack them at a considerable distance from the roof’s edge.
“The photographs taken by STOMPer at an inclined angle seemed to suggest that the panels were stacked at or very close to the roof’s edge.
“We have sent photographs that showed the actual distance between the panels and the roof’s edge.
“There are also photographs showing the safety measures for Blk 626 and neighbouring blocks.
“The Aljunied Town Council has constantly reminded our contractors to maintain good safety standards on site. No work is to be carried out without first installing safety netting and overhead shelter at the roof and ground levels respectively.
“Residents can be assured that the Town Council puts a premium on safe practices and not hesitate to take action against violations of safety regulations.
“Residents may also contact the Aljunied Town Council at 6744 1033 should they have any feedback or suggestions.”
