In an e-mail dated 11 August, STOMPer Frustrated claims to have encountered a group of drunk troublemakers who attacked the STOMPer's group of friends for no apparent reason.
According to the STOMPer, the incident happened on 9 August, at an open space in VivoCity, while the group was celebrating a friend's birthday.
The STOMPer says that two drunken males in their twenties then approached them and without any warning or reason, began to attack a member of the group with a belt.
The STOMPer says:
"Two drunk guys aged around 20 came to us and hit my friend with a belt without any reason.
"One of them is skinny and tall while another one was around 1.65m with good build.
"I think that they thought we would be easy bully-targets and thus tried to cause trouble.
"My friend tried to talk to them nicely to calm them down but they did not listen to us and started to hit one of my friends with a belt.
"And when one of my female friends tried to stop them by asking them to stop fighting, one of them attempted to beat her but failed to do so.
"Another friend who tried to stop them from fighting got punched in his face".
The STOMPer also says that although it was the fight occurred at about 9.20 pm, there were no guards or people around to help them.
The two men who attacked the group also fled after the fight.
Says the STOMPer of the experience:
"I find it ridiculous that they can just beat us up for nothing.
"I would like to ask the management of VivoCity arrange for some security guards to petrol its open space as fights might happen during weekends or peak periods".
The STOMPer was also frustrated because the police had advised them to drop the matter because of difficulties in pinpointing who the culprits were.
STOMPer Frustrated says that the matter should be pursued because there is a likelihood of the same thing happening to other innocent people in the future.
The STOMPer says:
"What happens if they start to get into another fight for no reason again?
"More people will be hurt by their foolish act and they might give VivoCity a negative reputation.
"I hope that the authorities will help us.
"Although this may be a small matter, if we let them go, they might start to create trouble again when they are drunk.
"I believe that they are frequent visitors to VivoCity as they told us that they never want to see us at VivoCity again.
"If they cannot behave properly in public, I suggest that they should not drink in public and cause more trouble.
"I hope that the authorities are able to do their part in helping us to catch them".
