What Bugs Me
Parents should educate young kids to return library books & not leave them on the floor

According to STOMPer Ang, young library users should be educated on the proper use of the library's facilities and their parents should set an example on this. She recorded this video as reference.

In her email to STOMP today (Feb 20), the STOMPer wrote:

"I am not here to pin point at anyone.

"Just find that there is a need to educate the library users especially the little kids on how to appreciate what we have in the library.

"It is a very common scene in any library where you can find little kids removing lots of lots of books from the self and place them on table...on the ground or they just dump them into another book shelf.

"The parents were there, but they just don't care.

"I hope that there is a way to alert the adults and at the same time to educate the young on the courteous way of using the library.

"I would like to suggest that may be the library can have programmes like 'Community Services for parents and pre-school kids' in the library. It can encourage family bonding and at the same time to benefit our community.

"Please look out for the little girl in pink and her mother in brown blouse in the video."

Aiya, nowadays children are like gems. Cannot scold, cannot beat. In libraries u should see how some parents behave.....worse then children so how u expect children to know right from wrong when cannot even say? Try advising a child to keep the books ba......he/she nvr cry, make a lot of noise and the parent nvr come scold u....i think u very lucky liao!! hahahaha!!!!

They are kids. Stomper Ang do you know how to return books and arranged them in orderly manner according to the library call number. Even in adult sections library user will just leave them on table or floor for the librarian to pick up. This are the librarian job.

They are creating jobs for librarians. If not librarians will be out of job.
