According to STOMPer Jason, a local actor has caused a stir online after he took to facebook to rant about a traditional Chinese activity -- the burning of joss paper.
In a screenshot of the post, which has since been taken down, sent in by the STOMPer, Suzairhe Sumari took a swipe at others when he wrote 'If you think our prayer's call is kind of noise pollution, what about those 'burning activities you have out there?'
He also asked that those who participate in the burning of joss paper to 'burn it in your house instead and stop destroying the grasses and burned the floors/tiles'.
The STOMPer also noted that the post attracted negative comments from his fans and hopes that other high-profile individuals will not make a similar mistake when he wrote:
"Came across a post on facebook this morning (Sep 1).
"Realised it look like a racist remark that may cause religious unrest by a local Suria actor/host.
"Went to his profile again and relalised that his post had already been removed and repost.
"Most of his fans' comments were quite negative as well.
"What I am trying to say is that as a public figure, one should steer his or her fans towards racial and religion torlarance and not post such negative things.
"Sincerely, I hope this post will help to get a message across to all public figures to think twice before he or she does a post on facebook."
