A STOMPer was concerned to see a man chatting up a female bus captain on board bus 165 today. The STOMPer feels this is dangerous as the bus captain should be concentrating on the road at all times and not be distracted.
Said the STOMPer:
"I was on board service 165 travelling along Clementi today (Aug 29) when I saw this male passenger standing next to the bus captain's seat.
"The bus number plate was SBS 8144 S, and the bus had left Clementi interchange at about 12.15pm."
"He was making small talk with the bus captain, who is female.
"He even made himself comfortable by leaning back while trying to strike a conversation with her. Perhaps he was trying to hit on her.
"The female bus captain did not stop him from doing so and even entertained him during the journey.
"Whether or not they are friends, this is a dangerous action because the bus captain should be concentrating on the road at all times.
"Trash talk should not be done while the bus captain is on duty, and the bus captain should not entertain passengers who try to strike a conversation with them.
"SBS Transit should set a rule for all bus captains not to engage in conversations unless absolutely necessary.
"I hope SBS Transit will look into this matter. Thank you."
