What Bugs Me
Nasi padang with only rice, vegetables, hot dog and ikan bilis costs $6.30

STOMPer Ah seng was annoyed when he was charged $6.30 for his nasi padang meal which consisted of rice, vegetables, hot dogs and ikan bilis.

Ah seng said:

"I had my meal at Punggol Nasi Padang at JCube's basement one.

"The total cost of my nasi padang was $6.30. This would mean the rice cost 50 cents, vegetables $1.80, hot dogs $2.00, ikan bilis $2.00.

"What kind of stall is this?

"I am not going to step into this kind of place anymore."

This Punggol Nasi Padang stall's staff seems to have a bad reputation of "deceiving" customers of it's food pricing. Was at its ION outlet, I asked the AhBeng punk the price of drumstick, not once but twice. Told me $2. After ordered two drumsticks and rice, the cashier totalled the price as $6.80 instead of $4.80!!. What the f#€@? I questioned the AhBeng punk and he got defensive and denied saying the drumstick was $2, said it was $3! CURSE this stall for it's blatant misleading
tactics of bluffing customers for it's food price and then makes customers pay for higher price!
Makes you question if the boss himself teaches his staffs this ugly tactics.

I have a collegue who were charge $10 for a plate of nasi padang before. I think it is always good to ask how much they charge cos most nasi padang don't put prices on their stall. But to some, this may sound embarassing to ask "how much this" and "how much that". For me, i usually would order a two dish, 1 vege and 1 meat for nasi padang : )

Is singapore yearly inflation rate that high and our gov is keeping the real figure away from us or is everyone simply making things expansive? can we boycott unreasonable food center who overly charge food? I see this post as an issue to our future generation.... what will be a cost for your future kids who is going to have a meal in their primary school? S$10 daily is it enough for them? is your yearly pay increment enough to cover the real inflation? when will i be able to be paid as highly as our high class national servant , who has the benefit of tax free and yet they say they are under paid? ...

We can't say that all malay stalls are expensive. I've had a small plate of chinese plain fried rice for $5.50 and I've also bought 2 aloo pratas with condiments that costed me $7.50.. From air conditioned food courts. Admit it, there are other stalls that are actually cheaper and at the same time sells very yummy food. It's not right to say all malay stalls are expensive.
