STOMPer Hong Kah parked at Singapore Indoor Stadium's carpark on a Tuesday evening, and was shocked to find that he got charged $6.42 for just ten minutes.
Wrote the STOMPer:
"Recently, I went to buy takeaway from Jumbo Seafood in the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
"I parked there for 10 minutes as I had already pre-ordered the food.
"I was shocked when I was charged $6.42 for the 10-minute parking.
"As motorists, we are at the mercy of these carpark companies.
"They can theoretically charge us any amount and we have to pay for it.
"If they calculate the rates wrongly, we still have to pay.
"If there is a jam getting out of the carpark, they will simply charge us more and hence, there is a commercial benefit in having a faulty system to charge more or to breakdown, as they can then collect more from us!
"It is like going to a restaurant and not knowing how much the bill is going to be.
"Then, when we go out, they will just present us a bill and take the money from our pockets without even having to ask us!"
