STOMPer aunty carebear was concerned to see an elderly cleaner carrying heavy plates while walking around Tiong Bahru Plaza food court and thinks that a tray station as well as trolley would ease her workload.
The STOMPer said:
"While waiting for our tables to be cleared at Tiong Bahru Plaza food court, we noticed something about the management of the food court at the premises.
"Yes, we did waited a very long time before our table has been cleared.
"When someone finally came to clear the table, we were surprised to see an elderly aunty with her back bent, trying her best to clear as many tables as possible
"In fact, the utensils were really very heavy and because of the shortage of manpower, the elderly auntie has no choice but to continue her work silently.
"I am sure that this job will be very tiring for a young chap as well.
"I am not saying that this job is not suitable for the elderly, however, job safety is very important.
"In this case, the auntie has to carry a heavy tray of plates and walk such a long distance to the tray station before walking all the way back to clear another table.
"Many other food courts have waste trolleys where cleaners can conveniently move around to clear tables.
"I wonder why this particular food court doesn't.
"The design of this food court can be improved.
"There is a place in this food court where they placed some chairs for kids but this space is rarely used.
"Hence I suggest that the management should place a tray station there to allow cleaners to work more efficiently."
