Over-crowded MRT: Commuter could only board after five trains had come and gone

STOMPer Pink says she had to let not one, not two, but five trains pass by without boarding because they were too crowded with people.

The STOMPer wrote:

"It's peak hour and the waiting time for the train is four minutes! See the overcrowded platform.

"Five trains have passed and one could hardly squeeze into the train cabins.

"Singapore aims to increase our population and continue to welcome the so-called foreign talents, but is the basic infrastructure such as transport even able to support the increase of our population?

"This is absurd."

We people work hard yet cannot even have a basic luxury of driving a car, and the concentration camp like public transport which drives people crazy and frustrated. There is no more gracefulness in people anymore at this type of lifestyle. Thanks to gov for spending so little on public infeastructure. Why not built more roads and tunnels so more people can own a car in lifetime. Why not built better public transport so people can decently commute. Lousy government even cannot compare how much malaysian gov spend for public spending for each citizen with respect to tax collected.

Totally inefficient and incompetence. What a shame.

Absurd indeed! I usually drive however last Friday did not have my car so was forced to take the MRT during the evening peak hour. At Dhoby Ghaut I stood in the human mass queuing for train after train until I finally managed to board the 4th train. The trains seemed to be arriving every minute yet each was packed to the gills.

ALL car drivers should be required to experience our MRT at peak hours to be able to sympathise with the daily commuter's frustrations, and to understand the groundswell in unhappiness with our over-taxed train system. I suggest Mr Lui Tuck Yew try taking the trains during peak hours as well. We complain about our roads being jam packed with cars too, however the level of pain is no where close to what public transport commuters have to deal with.

For smart alec Stompers who say I should have taken a cab, well that was my original intent however after 30 mins of not being able to call for one I had no choice but to take a train.

Stomper, I thought this issue had became a common issue in Singapore?? But agree that waiting 5trains to passby can't sneak in is bit ridiculous...sad for you:(
