Foreigner asking for 4 times salary increase: Has his productivity increased as much?

A screenshot of an email from a foreign job applicant asking for a four-fold increase of his previous salary caught the attention of STOMPer SgBoy.

The STOMPer wrote:

"When Prime minister Lee stressed to Singaporeans that if they wanted an increase in wages, their productivity must increase as well.

The Flip issue aside, you can probably extrapolate from the email, his/her salary is quoted in pesos, indicating he/she is referring to a job currently held in Flipland. Naturally his salary here cannot be based on what he earned there, how are you going to eat or house yourself on $500? Having said that I am not commenting on whether $2000 is appropriate, I would assume you start high then go lower. Would you underquote? LOL

Pinoys, what a bunch of "amazing talents".
They run their own country SO WELL we need them here.
They even talk about how much we, Singaporeans, need them.

According to few of my overseas friends, the average salary for 3-5 years work exp in their own countries equates to around S$1000++ and it probably seemed quite low compared to salary in Sgp with same amount of exp. But it is adequate for them considering that the living cost in their own countries are way cheaper than here. So if he would like to move to other countries obviously he should follow the country's salary market rate. Same things will happen if Sgporeans move to USA which has higher market rate, then our salary expectation should follow accordingly since the living costs are way more expensive rite?

Eventhough I do not have any idea what are the ranges for salary in Phil, I am sure that P20,000 should be an average salary in their own country, as other countries like Thailand, Vietnam, etc which as well have their own salary range and that salary obviously SEEMS much lower than Singapore because ALL things are much cheaper there compared to Singapore. Thus, if they would like to apply for job in Singapore, they need to get salary for at least S$2,000 (which was the increment from S$1,800 last year) in order to obtain SPass (which is the lowest level) and S$3,000 for obtaining EPass. It shouldn't be seen as merely asking for 4x increment in their salary. Get the idea?

I don't know what is Singapore becoming...

Older Singaporeans are getting discriminated and demanding a lower salary than their last drawn salaries and what they should be getting (just ask/interview any older Singaporeans).

Younger PMETS like myself are competing day and night with foreigners (F.Trash) vying for the same position at a lower salary and I can't even go on leave in peace.

@Icelander, the problem is that Singapore employers are getting addicted to cheap foreign labour. They hire "cheap" Singaporeans to fill in gen admin jobs(fresh grads or school leavers than experienced local PMETS) so that they could have more quota for S Passes and Work Permits to hire experienced foreigners who would have cost lesser than an experienced Singaporean doing the same job.
