STOMPer Jack was disgusted at discovering something 'white and unusual' on his slice of Toast Box cake which turned out to be mould.
He elaborates:
"'Icing' on Toast Box banana cake?
"I was having breakfast at Toast Box at Church Street and I ordered a banana cake. After taking several bites of the banana cake, I noticed something white and unusual on the cake.
"To my horror, it was mould growing on the cake and it covered most of the base of the cake. I couldn't believe my eyes and immediately highlighted the issue to an employee. The employee was eager to dispose of the cake in question.
"Was it an attempt cover up the truth rather than face it? I took a look at the rest of the banana cakes on display and they were all mouldy.
"They were quickly disposed of. I was told that the banana cakes were from Saturday and kept in the fridge. I'm not sure if the cakes have such a long shelf life in a non-air conditioned environment?
"I was quickly refunded and offered alternatives. Although I subsequently highlighted the issue to the management, I only received a token response. No attempt was made to see if there was food poisoning.
"I believe we all deserve mould-free food. Be careful."
