After a failed relationship, Sakunthala was apprehensive about rushing into another one. But when Amaran proposed on Valentine's day, she realised that he was the one she wanted to spend the rest of her life with.
Sakunthala elaborates on her love story:
“Amaran was the person I never thought I would have started my beautiful family life with.
“It all started with Friendster. He private messaged asking if I would like to be his friend. ‘What’s wrong with that’ was what I thought. I replied back and that was how we became friends.
“It felt like he was a mirror image of me whenever we chatted. Whatever I liked was what he liked. I guess great minds think alike.
“Soon, he asked if I would like to take a step closer to being in a relationship. After being in a relationship for more than 7 years, which didn’t work out, I thought that this was never going to happen again in my life.
“I told him we shall take things slow and see if this would work. We started meeting more often, more little phone chats, smses and emails and then i realized that this was certainly the guy that I never wanted to miss in my life. BUT I never told him that I LOVED HIM.
“We courted for two years. Valentine’s day, 2007 was the day that changed my life. He told me that he wanted to pass me something. I thought he was just going to give me a Valentine’s Day present.
“Instead just as I walked over to him, he proposed to me with a solitaire ring, asking me to be his better half. I was stunned and just didn’t know what to tell him. I merely looked at him with eyes full of joyful tears accepting the ring and his love full heartedly.
“That was the day I told him ‘I LOVE YOU’. We officially the tied knot on June 2nd 2008 and held our traditional wedding ceremony on Feb 10th 2009.
“Today, we have been happily married for four years. We have a beautiful son who is just five months old. I have never regretted this beautiful married life, although we do have small fights and quarrels over time.
“I praise GOD for showing me this wonderful man to brighten up my dark life. Amaran, means so much to me.”
