Ugly Commuters
Excuse me uncle, but you don't fall into the 'Priority seat' category

STOMPer Matin was upset that this uncle sat on the Priority Seat on the MRT instead of letting her have the seat. The STOMPer says she is pregnant with an obvious bulge.

The STOMPer wrote:

"I was on the train this morning travelling to Yio Chu Kang from Woodlands.

"I'm a pregnant mum with an obvious bulge weighing 78kg now.

"The train was partially packed and so the only place that I could hold on was the beam next to this corner seat.

"This man looked at me from top to bottom while reading his newspaper.

"I leaned on the beams so that I could rest my back on the vertical beams.

"He continued looking at me non stop while flipping his paper so I decided to snap a photo of him.

"Is this how public users cater for pregnant women?

"Do any MRT users give up their seats for any of those who are listed on the Priority Seat sign?

"How many self-centred public users need to be groomed in etiquette and courtesy?

"It's a shame."

Some things never change . STOMPERs like you still exist in the thousands , which is what contributed to the unhappiness index .

I agree, he was looking for an indication that you wanted the seat when he looked at you. He might have been afraid to offend you if you didn't want to seat/were just fat not pregnant.

Btw, no one has to "cater" to you. And you were also being selfish leaning against the entire pole and not letting others hold on to it. You didn't work for or "earn" getting pregnant, do not expect to reap any benefits.

You know what u mentioned that he kept looking at you non-stop from top to bottom. Meaning he is making the effort to make an observation & see if u respond. Some people hv poor judgement & maybe thinking 1) Maybe u look slightly plump with stomach bulge (u didnt mention ur height) 2) Maybe he did think u pregnant but since u didnt open ur mouth to ask 4 seat(after he knws u notice him looking) he juz stay put. Some women they r strong enough to stand & he will feel paiseh if u were to REJECT him. Hw were he to knw which stop u be alighting huh? No one is a mind reader ok!! Next time when someone looks at u, PLEASE EYE TO EYE CONTACT, SMILE & ASK POLITELY! Dont forget say Thank You afterwards.

If you want the seat so badly, just open your damn mouth and ask.

Maybe you should make him a sandwich. Just kidding. But seriously, if you want a seat, maybe opening your mouth might help in future.

There is no law stating that priority seats can only be sat on by "xxxxx" people. Anyone can and should give up their seats to those in need, out of sheer consideration and kindness. The label is simply a reminder, not an order. Grow up.
