STOMPER Azlina, who is 6 months pregnant, was shocked when she spotted this boy pretending to fall asleep in the priority seat when he saw her entering the train. SMRT staff should keep a lookout for people who abuse these seats, the STOMPer added.

In an email to STOMP today (Mar 18), the STOMPer says:

“Think SMRT should do something about their priority seats.

“I think the poster is still not big enough for these people to see!

“I’m 6 months pregnant and I snapped this picture of a boy who pretended to sleep once I entered the train.

“I was amazed!

“What’s the point of SMRT getting their staff to be stationed at the platform just to alert patrons to stand behind the yellow line?

“They should open their eyes wider to see those who abuse the priority seats.

“I suggest SMRT should plan and be pro-active, and not just putting up a poster or big stickers or paying for expensive advertisements.”

mlyleo_69 and cowsberg may have an average IQ but totally immature with EQ... Morons, when you get old remember what you are commenting today and hopefully you wouldn't be in the situation that will require a priority sits..

You can't blame those "Frogs" that never get out of the "Well" to look around. If they go to Taiwan before , they will see that no one would ever sit on the priority seats. They know very well that it's for people who need it the most. Those who defend this guy, i will assume that they themselves also use the priority seat for their own benefit. Sad case.

Someone should do a study on those seats! They have the amazing ability to render humans unconscious.

I think there is no law which compel commuters to offer their seats to those who are really in need. It is a matter of consideration and understanding that encourage mindful commuters to make such offer. The boy has every reason to remain in that seat, even if he isn't asleep. Perhaps other mindful commuters from other seats can also make offer for you to seat. If you think each time you enter the train people will automatically offer you to seat, it's better for you to keep that believe and start spending money on taxi ride, which is more convenient and relax.
