Ugly Commuters
Man tries to molest girl on bus but no one comes to her rescue

When this man behaved inappropriately onboard bus 225 this afternoon, the girl who noticed his actions shouted at him to stop. Unfortunately, her cries fell on deaf ears as no one came to her rescue.

The man, who allegedly followed the girl into the bus and tried to brush his elbow against her, was let off easily as nobody attempted to stop him from alighting.

The STOMPer, who sent in this picture, says that the man fled after his girlfriend threatened to call the police.

The bus driver did not try and stop the man even though he had heard the STOMPer's girlfriend shouting.

The disappointed STOMPer says in an email:

"On December 4, my girlfriend was at Bedok Interchange waiting for SBS bus 225 and at 12:25 pm, the bus came.

"A guy walked closely behind her and brushed his arm against her back.

"She senses something was amiss hence she kept a distance from him and sat next to a lady.

"However, that guy followed my girlfriend and sat beside her.

"When the bus started moving, that guy used his elbow to touch her waist.

"She uses her bag to block his advances and immediately moved away.

"She shouted at him to stop touching her or she would make a police report.

"All the commuters on the bus could hear that.

"She then took picture of the molester and called me. I advised her to call the Police and inform the bus driver.

"She told me that the bus driver heard her shouting but did not do anything. The driver just carried on driving and even let the molester alight at the next bus stop near Bedok North Blk 538.

"The molester fled after my girlfriend took a picture of him and threatened to call the police.

"No one came forward to help my girlfriend.

"The bus driver is the worst; he should have helped her yet he did not.

"I wonder how girls can stand up to a molester if the bus driver does not even want to help and let the molester go off scot-free.

"Girls, please be careful."

Its called diffusion of responsibility, and very common in singapore

The more people there is, the lesser chhance someone will help as they think that others will

this can only be changed if people themselves reinforces the idea of doing good for the person in need, whether or not it is crowded or not

If I were her, I would not even let him sit beside me, I would have moved to another seat or stand far away from him. Scold him & punch him. Call police no use one.
