No point adding more buses if commuters refuse to move in

STOMPer typicalspore was on board the bus yesterday (July 1) when he noticed that a few commuters refused to move to the rear although the bus was packed. He thinks adding buses would be redundant as commuters do not move to the back.

Wrote the STOMPer:

"I was on board this SBS bus service 291 today (July 1).

"Despite being squeezed and cramped like sardines, these few gentlemen just refused to move to the rear.

"There was plenty of space behind but they just stood there.

"There is no point adding buses when Singaporeans refuse to move in.

"We Singaporeans are really still far from being a considerate country.

"First world country, yet third world citizens."

Please don't blame the people, it is the design of the bus that force the people not to move right in. The seats are lesser than a shoulder lenght of an average adult. The walkway, one has to move like a crab. Once get right to the back , one had a trying time to move out when alighting. The bus company cuts corners, by having a smaller design, which is mend only for seating capacity. No standing, the hooks are for assisting passengers when they are moving to their seat.

Stomper can just excuses him/herself all the way to the back if the front is too packed. I do that all the time. If excusing myself don't allow me to get to the empty spaces, I elbow my way.

ya hor... a van/lorry private bus driver can carry onli a certain amt of passenger, beyond that, e driver will kena fined... hw come sbs/smrt bus cn fill till packed like sardine bt still no problem?

Dismiss: I'm a Singaporean. I hate pple who blame government for bringing in foreign talents when pple who dont even want to work tough job and rather work in the office with chairs and air con. Btw, I'm working as a retail staff. And I don't no why Singaporean don't want to work in the retail line at all. Izzit becuz of low pay?

Guys, I ask you guy a few questions? Would you work as bus driver? Would you work as a sales assistant or in the retail shop as a staff? Or would you rather work in the office? If you guys say want to work in the office, who would work as driver and retail staff? Only foreign talent would work. Kindly answer when you blame on government.

btw does anybody know that bus are allow to carry limited number of standing passenger? we commuter have the right to have space allowance when standing. It the bus service providers that need to look into the matter and improve the bus service routing.
