Not a single commuter gave up seat to STOMPer who is 29 weeks' pregnant

STOMPer Deane, who is 29 weeks pregnant, took the train on the morning of May 15 from Potong Pasir to Harbourfront and was enraged that no one sitting on the priority seats stood up to give her their seat.

She said:

"I don't care if you are asleep, the fact that you are sitting on a priority seat, you should give up your seat if you see an elderly person, a pregnant woman, someone who is disabled or someone with a kid in front of you.

"Sleeping is not an excuse! Do not pretend that you didn't see my big tummy or stare into space.

"I only had a chance to sit down in Outram, when thr majority of the people stood up to transfer trains."

Less than 5 hours of sleep, 3 hours travelling time daily, as I live in the North and Work in the South-East. After waiting for a few stops, finally a student alighted and I sat down, not the reserved seat. Then I saw one lady in her forties standing in front of the reserve seat very pissed off face eyeing me just the moment I sat down. Then I saw an elderly man beside her, standing in front too but being hot tempered too, I got angry and not stand up for him. Now, I felt sorry and sad for my own temper, for I should have let the elderly man sit instead of letting my anger towards the lady overcomes me. Thinking back, after the temper, comes a deep remorseful feeling for letting the elderly man suffer the consequences of the anger towards another that I hope I would not make this choice again. Elderly person or Pregnant woman, that thoughts just somehow occurred to me that life could easily be taken away compared to a few minutes of restless nap.

maybe ppl scared to give you a sit cos dunno whether you really pregnant or you're just having a BIG BELLY! and admit it, in this country, everyone thinks for themselves and will not bother for others.
even if someone drops dead in the mrt, they will kaypo but not do anything about it.

Such selfish comments... Pregnancy is not an easy thing. If uve never been pregnant b4, dont post selfish comments. What a disgrace this society has become. Have a lil bit of compassion.. Someday u might become pregnant, or u might have a daughter who is pregnant etc. Think b4 u post such negative comments towards a pregnant women. Not all are born rich, who could afford to buy a car or travel ard in taxi. A little kindness goes a long way.

You want a seat? Next time be PROACTIVE and DEMAND to have the priority seat, saying that you are pregnant. Some people may mistake pregnant women for obese ones and vice versa.

pretenders always have their excuses for not giving up their seats... pretenders will make up excuses for e.g. maybe she is fat.
pretenders then just pretend to sleep like they haven slept for 10
years, use mobile like they are running a huge business & etc etc..
