Rachel Teh describes her mother as a 'weasel', because she never runs away and will fight to death to protect her children.
Rachel writes:
"I love my mom very much! She took care of me since she gave birth to me. No one can separate us, we are too close. I was her first daughter. I am having my PSLE this year.
"My mum keeps encouraging me to study hard to get good scores to get into a good secondary school. Without her to push me, I will never have done well in my exams. My mom means the world to me.
"She protects me. She is like a weasel, never running away but fighting to death to protect her children. She protects me and my 3 sisters in the same way. She never gives up on us. She will say she gives up on me, but she never does that as she loves me.
"She always makes the effort to bring the 4 of us kids out. She wants to bring us out so we would not be bored at home. :) Convincing my dad to bring us to the beach, park and many lovely places proves her to be the greatest mom I could ever have.
"Even if she said that she wants to jump out the window and die, she will never do it as she loves us, her flesh and blood, too much to leave us. She will hang on and take care of us.
"We make her angry at times and she will scold us. But her scolding is always for our own good, to teach us not to do the wrong thing but the right thing. She will forgive us, not wanting to cane us as not only does it make us feel upset, she too will feel hurt and pain in her heart.
"She teaches me and coaches me. I do not have tuition but under my mom's teaching, I had academic achievement for 3 years in a row. XD
"She finds the time to teach me though she has to take care of my 2-year-old sister and 4-year-old sister. I love to spend time with her, going shopping together, chatting with her and telling her about my problems.
"My mom and I are both dragons in the Chinese horoscope. We love different things, like she likes purple but I like green, but that does not mean we are not close. She gives me great advice for friendship problems. She is the best mom in the whole world! The greatest!"
