Kris's mother stayed strong for the whole family when her father passed away and diligently provides for the family.
"My mum Ai Li is 55 years old. I love my Mum. She is muddle-headed at times and may say hurtful words without thinking, but she loves us. She does that because she wasn't highly educated and does not know the right way to express her love for us.
"A mum who does not love you will not wake up early in the morning just to prepare breakfast for you, making sure your stomach is filled with food she cooked with love. No matter how tired she is, she has never failed to prepare our breakfast and dinner.
"She will always give us a call if we stay out too late and she gives in to us when our bad temper gets the better of us. Sometimes I really wonder how my mum has the patience to tolerate all the rubbish that we give to her. At times, I can see that she is really tired of all the nonsense from us and she succumbs to tears. Those moments are really heartbreaking. I really feel that we are very unfilial to make her so sad.
"When my dad passed away four years back, we promised to take good care of my mum but I don't know if we really do 'take good care of her' as she is suffering from body aches, aging and sickness now.
"Other than bringing her to see sinseh, we didn't do much to help her. She still has to do housework every day with her aching hand and nobody helps her. She does not complain but still continues to wake up every morning to prepare breakfast for us, do the housework and cook our dinner.
"I remember one day, I felt very emotional due to some personal matters and I was a bit of an introvert, even to my family. I did not talk much to them and just went off to work.
"My mom, brother and sister went out for shopping that day. During work, I received a call from my mum, she said with concern, 'Baobei, what are you doing? What time do you knock off?" I just kept quiet, only saying 'ok' and 'byebye'. She hanged up with 'Mum love you'. I ended the call with my eyes filled with tears. At that moment I cried in the office, feeling extremely touched.
"I felt like replying 'Mum I love you too' but I find it hard and not my style but deep in my heart I love you Mum.
"I have a very, very wonderful family. Even though some kinds of feelings changed since my dad passed away, my mum stayed strong to continue being responsible for this family. I feel that she is very noble, responsible and she is the best mum in my heart. Nobody can replace her.
"My dearest mum, happy mother's day! I love you and I hope I can give you all my best."
