A STOMPer was concerned after viewing a video online showing the SCDF trying to put out a fire with a faulty hose. A spokesperson from SCDF says the fire was put out in 11 minutes despite this setback.
The spokesperson from SCDF says:
"The incident mentioned occurred in July 2011 at Block 1 Beach Road at 9.45am.
"SCDF dispatched 1 Fire Engine, 1 Red Rhino, 1 Fire Bike, 1 Ambulance and 1 Supporting Vehicles to the location.
"SCDF resources arrived at the location within 8 minutes. Upon arrival, the affected unit on the 4th floor was already engulfed by the fire.
"The Fire Bike personnel immediately conducted initial fire-fighting using the impulse gun while the rest of the personnel were establishing water supply.
"Despite initial problems to establish water supply, the fire was put under control within 11 minutes of SCDF’s arrival using 2 water jets, and no one was injured during this incident.
"The initial problem was attributed to a faulty hose coupling. SCDF will continue to ensure that all equipment are serviceable and ready for operations.”

I called 995 on 9.10am before I rushed out of the house with my aged and immobile parents. We waited in anguish for half an hour before the a motorbike appear. It took another 20 minutes for the fire engine to appear.
The fire was put out after 15 minutes after the fire engine arrived. However, it took nearly half an hour for the first help to arrived and the unit was completely burnt inside out. The windows grilled had melted and the walls and part of corridors had cracked and fallen off.
It is such a tragedy. Tell me, The response time on this case is terrible wrong. Central Fire Station isn't that far from Beach Road.
Just joking!!!
